Current Development Applications of Concern
Cnr. South Parade/Alice Street, Auburn

Suburb: Auburn
Address: Cnr South Parade/Alice Street
Approved: 2001
Status: Built
Description: 3 storey flats (45 units)
2003: Modification M80/03: to add 9 additional units in roof (now 54 units)

Voted for: Cr Bala Balendra, Mohamed Saddick (Independent), Michael Ghamraoui, Michael Tadros (Liberal), Le Lam & Minh Hua (Unity)

Voted against: Cr Irene Simms (RAGAA), Chris Cassidy, Pat Curtin, Robert Murray &  Barbara Perry (Labor), Kim Appleby (independent)

Our concerns include: application deferred June 2001 to allow applicant to address issues, such as height (presents as 4 storey), open space, solar access and other environmental issues, privacy, unit design, car parking and effect on streetscape.  New plans submitted, which addressed some minor concerns, but did not address many of the issues raised in council.

FOOTNOTE: 4/2/04  Modification M80/03 approved unanimously, but number of additional units reduced to 7 and noise attenuation in the form of glazing to the front units closest to South Pde.

November 2006: The completed development, showing the impact on the streetscape.

February 2004: The cleared site.

October 2003: View of site as one crosses Alice St (Western) Bridge. Very busy intersection...may add to traffic problems when flats built.
