Current Development Applications of Concern
Railway land, Park Rd, Regents Park

Suburb: Regents Park
Address: Lot 100 Park Rd (land is between Park Rd and the railway line to the north of the commuter car park)

In 2005, an application was approved for the erection of industrial units on this site.
It would appear that the proposal for high rise units has been abandoned.

Application Number: rezoning request.
Status: deferred for town centre study
2005: Industrial units approved for site. Built.
Description: application to rezone land from special uses (railway) to 3a business , with a preferred design option of 3 L - shaped residential buildings, containing 186 dwellings, retail and community space. Two towers are proposed to a max. height of 10 storeys and one of 12 storeys

Our concerns include: This area of land is not in 'town centre'; heights speculated are far outside those considered acceptable for Regents Park; the fact that this 'request' was not refused gives the impression of 'favourable consideration of the proposal'... this should have been refused outright, as is not in keeping with 'vision' for Regents Park; lot is surrounded by industrial development

Moved for refusal: Cr Appleby, Seconded: Cr Irene Simms (RAGAA) motion lost

Moved for deferral to town centre study: Cr Saddick (Independent); Seconded: Cr Curtin (Labor) Voted for deferral: Crs Curtin, Murray and Cassidy (Labor); Cr Hua (Unity), Crs Tadros and Ghamraoui (Liberal); Crs Saddick and Balendra (Independent)

Crs Le Lam and Barbara Perry were absent from the meeting.
