*Cr Kim Appleby moved for deferral of application for a heritage study
to be undertaken and for all ‘deferred commencement’ conditions to be
met .. motion lapsed as no seconder
Cr Simms moved for refusal, as no justification for exceeding DCP
height limits; effect on historical church and that commercial area
proposed for this development by applicant is actually LESS than that
which currently exists on site …. Motion lapsed as no seconder
Our concerns include: we believe that building in the shopping
centres should be mostly retail/offices. Any residential development
should be minimal, with the emphasis being ‘commercial’ in the business
zone. This building will exceed council’s height limits, and will
dominate the historical Church alongside. The Church will be surrounded
by two 7-8 storey buildings. # The conditions imposed by the town
planners reduce the no. of units, by removing half the units in the
residential tower fronting Harrow Rd. This will improve sunlight to some
units. |
